🚀 A members-only community for Bootstrappers (Applications Open!)
We are excited about the response we received for our launch so far. Today we are excited to open application to the first batch of Bootstrappers and we want you to be the first one to know. You can submit the application here - https://district.so/bootstrappers (if you prefer a dedicated link to the form here it is).
If you missed my post about the launch, you can read it here, but the gist is, we are trying to bring the power of the network to the likes of YC, TechStars, etc. to the Bootstrappers. Just as how spacecraft takes the most amount of energy to lift-off, bootstrappers need the most amount of help to get their projects off the ground and we want to be the ones providing that to the Bootstrappers. Starting July 11th we are bringing a select group of smart Bootstrappers together (no more than 50 people) and plan to share as many resources as possible to help them get their project to the next level.
We want to create a positive-sum community. More often communities fail because most of the members are just thinking about extracting the value out of it, but we reversed that thinking and want each member to add value, that way everyone walks away with 10x the value than they walked in with. To achieve this, we are looking for ambitious Bootstrappers with diverse backgrounds who can add value to the community with their learnings and experience.
One of the most important aspects of building a startup is to have accountability. While working on a bootstrapping project it's easier to get lost in the flow. We will form groups of 5 to 6 founders who can meet up on a weekly basis so they can act as a sounding board on what you are working on and help you with various obstacles. We will host regular weekly events with all members so you get an opportunity to get to know them, learn from other members who are in a similar boat as you. We will also do breakout sessions on various topics and host workshops so you can learn about diverse topics. If the Covid-19 situation permits, we also plan to do physical get-togethers in the SF Bay Area.
In addition to being part of the awesome group of people, we also plan to bring in various experts from the industry from time-to-time for fireside chats, AMAs, and office hours so you can learn from their success.
Unlike YC or TechStars we don't plan to take any equity in whatever you are working on, instead, we will charge a nominal price of $95 per month. As an introductory price, we are bringing this down to $45 per month for our first cohort. We also plan to offer a few scholarships to waive this price altogether. If you'd like to be considered, please mention that in the 'Additional Notes' section of the application.
Feel free to email us at help@district.so for any other questions or suggestions. We respond to every one of them.
When you are ready, go ahead and submit the application here - https://district.so/bootstrappers. Application Deadline is June 30th, 2020 and the community opens to the first cohort on July 11th, 2020, with a kick-off event.
